The Building Systems division of BASF Construction Chemicals has acquired the CONICA brand of sports surfaces. A thirty-year-old company, Conica is known for "extremely reliable products for synthetic sports surfaces in all climate conditions," the company said. Terms of the deal were not disclosed.

Doug MacRae, head of BASF's Building Systems division, said Conica Sports Surfaces was a welcome addition to BASF's line of flooring products and accessories. “The addition of the Conica Sports Surfaces complements our full range of flooring solutions for building owners, designers and contractors, and adds an exciting new opportunity with outdoor running track, indoor track surfaces and playgrounds,” he said. He also added that Conica enjoys "worldwide recognition."

Conica's line includes surfaces for running tracks, multipurpose facilities, sports halls and indoor athletic facilities, as well as playground and moulding binders, and products for artificial turf installations. For more information, call (800) 642-7010 for further information.
