Milliken & Co. recently received the Silver Crescent Award for Manufacturing Excellence from South Carolina’s Silver Crescent Foundation and the state’s Manufacturing Extension Partnership. Along with recognizing the company’s  manufacturing practices, the award represents Milliken’s “commitment to workforce enhancement” as well as the company’s humanitarian projects. Milliken was one of three companies that was recognized this year, and the only one in the flooring industry.

According to Gary Foster, chairman of the Silver Crescent Foundation, the award winners represent “the best of the best in South Carolina. “

“All of these companies play vital roles in the communities where they do business, providing valuable jobs, contributing to the tax base and give back to their communities by supporting charities and mentoring young people. They are positive reminders of why manufacturing is still the cornerstone of South Carolina’s economy and we salute their ongoing success,” he said.

Milliken was credited for a corporate culture that includes approximately 10,000 staffers worldwide. Additionally, the company partners with local schools to purchase supplies and help tutor students in K-12. Milliken also promotes environmental stewardship and recycling.
